InkJet Cartridge Recycling ProgramOur cartridge recycling program differs from others in the industry, in that we use the parts from the recycled empties, intact as opposed to grinding the plastics and remolding other items with the plastics. We sort the incoming empties, remove any leftover ink, shred and compact the bag and fittings, and clean and reuse the body and reprogram the chip. The leftover ink is separated by type (aqueous or solvent) and follows a specific waste stream for that product. Aqueous inks are dehydrated to remove any water and reduce mass by approx. 60%, then that remaining sludge, composed of pigments, glycols and other chemicals, is incinerated using the solvent waste ink removed from recycled solvent cartridges. This process uses no outside fuels to dispose of the waste and does not necessitate the disposal of the sludge in a landfill. By reusing the bulk of the cartridge we reduce the energy needed to make a new ink cartridge. Spectraflow will recycle inks from the following printers:
Please send inks to the following location. Spectraflow will offer our customers a $20 credit toward media (paper, canvas, etc.) for every set of 10 recycled ink cartridges that were purchased from us (110 ml or larger). If you send 25 or more cartridges at a time, Spectraflow will provide a UPS number to cover shipping costs. Please call us at 888-689-9793 to discuss. Spectraflow Recycling Center |
