The Arbor Day Foundation is the nation’s the largest nonprofit membership organization dedicated to planting trees, with over one million members, supporters, and valued partners. Last year, ADF helped plant over 14 million trees. InkJet Cartridge Recycling ProgramSpectraflow will offer our customers a $25 credit toward media (paper, canvas, etc.) for every set of 25 recycled ink cartridges that were purchased from us (110 ml or larger). If you send 25 or more cartridges at a time, Spectraflow will provide a UPS number to cover shipping costs. Please call us at 415-382-8681 to discuss. If your volume is smaller, you are still encouraged to send you empty cartridges to our recycling center, though we are not able to offer a credit. Please ship all recycled cartridges to:
Spectraflow Recycling Center Our cartridge recycling program differs from others in the industry, in that we use the parts from the recycled empties, intact as opposed to grinding the plastics and remolding other items with the plastics. We sort the incoming empties, remove any leftover ink, shred and compact the bag and fittings, and clean and reuse the body and reprogram the chip. The leftover ink is separated by type (aqueous or solvent) and follows a specific waste stream for that product. Aqueous inks are dehydrated to remove any water and reduce mass by approx. 60%, then that remaining sludge, composed of pigments, glycols and other chemicals, is incinerated using the solvent waste ink removed from recycled solvent cartridges. This process uses no outside fuels to dispose of the waste and does not necessitate the disposal of the sludge in a landfill. By reusing the bulk of the cartridge we reduce the energy needed to make a new ink cartridge. Spectraflow will recycle inks from the following printers:
